While Ailafushi is a place for carefree island experiences, caring for our delicate ecosystem is at the heart of life here. Through our partnership with Swimsol, we harness the Maldivian sun using state-of-the-art solar panels to reduce our reliance on conventional power. By blending renewable energy with eco-conscious resort operations, we drastically lower our carbon footprint, ensuring that your sustainable island getaway protects the pristine ocean and vibrant reefs surrounding us.
We are committed to minimising our environmental impact through responsible energy, water and waste management practices. We comply with applicable environmental legislation, reduce waste through responsible purchasing, reuse and recycling, and promote the efficient use of resources across the resort. Through ongoing training, guest awareness initiatives and regular performance monitoring, we continue to improve our environmental practices and support a more sustainable approach to resort operations.
To reduce our reliance on single-use plastics, we have introduced reusable glass water bottles across all guest areas and replaced in-villa liquid amenity bottles with ceramic dispensers. From guest villas to the gardens, we adopt biodegradable packaging, eco-certified cleaning products, and responsible waste management practices. Paper and cardboard are also repurposed into organic compost for our landscaping. Our marine specialists lead coral restoration projects, while a strict no-feeding policy protects the delicate reef ecosystem.
Our Sustainability Management Plan serves as the roadmap for responsible operations at OBLU XPERIENCE Ailafushi. It sets clear objectives across environmental, social, quality, health and safety areas, while helping us monitor performance and identify opportunities for improvement. Through regular reviews and measurable targets, the plan ensures sustainability remains an ongoing focus across all aspects of the resort.
The Green Globe International Standard for Sustainable Tourism is recognised in over 180 countries and operates in 50 countries. It is a reflection of our commitment to sustainable tourism and environmental stewardship.
